Chef de Chemin de Fer (national commander)

Bernie was born in Woodville, NY on March 29, 1947.  He graduated from Belleville High School in 1966 and joined the Marine Corps.  He was stationed in Viet Nam where he earned the Purple Heart, Vietnam Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Expert Medal.

Bernie joined Don Rounds Post 586 American Legion in 1966 where he has served as Post Finance Officer for the past twenty years.  Other service and recognition includes:

Bernie is retired from the Marine Corps.  He lives in his hometown of Woodville, NY with his wife, Terry.  They have three grown children and four grandchildren.  Bernie has been an active member of the Veteran organizations and a lifetime supporter of the sporting groups in his community.  He has been active in Little League, Pop Warner, the Bowling Association, Men’s Softball andTavern Pool League.  He is a Paid up for Life member of the American Legion, the VFW, the DAV, and the Marine Corps League.  In his “spare time”, Bernie is an avid golfer

 

 

 

 

 

Correspondant National (national adjutant)

David R. Rabius is the national adjutant for the Forty et Eight and manages it’s Voiture Nationale headquarters and staff in Indianapolis.

David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1946, where he spent his formative years.  After graduating from Indian Hill High School in 1966, he joined the U. S. Air Force.  After completing his military service, he worked in various retail sales, was employed by retail electronics firms in Cincinnati, Ohio; and for five years was Vice President of Diversified Products, Solid Fuel Division.

David is married to the former Ronna Cribbet of Cincinnati, Ohio. They have two grown children Ronna Castellucio of Clearwater, Florida and David Rabius II of northern Kentucky, plus one grandchild.

David has studied at both Ivy Tech College and Indiana Business College.

David Rabius joined The American Legion in 1983, Post 231, Aurora, Indiana, where he served as Post Commander.  He has also served as District Commander, Vice Commander, Adjutant, Service Officer, and Membership Chairman.  David is a two-time Legion Gold Brigade winner, was fourth in the nation in recruiting new members in 1997; National Achievement Awardee for chartering new posts in the Ninth District 1995-1996; and he participated in the 32nd National Workshop 1995 and District Service Officer Training Program 1994-1996.

David is a member of Forty et Eight Voiture Locale 612 in Indianapolis, where he has served as Chef de Gare and Correspondant.   David is also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Amvets, and the Air Force Association.

Avocat National (national legal counsel)

John L. Wiseman is the Forty et Eight’s national legal officer.

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1930, Wiseman graduated from High School in Horseheads, NY.  He served in the United States Army from 1948-1952.  Wiseman worked for Westinghouse Corporation in New York, attended the State University of New York, and was thereafter employed by IBM, where Wiseman was in on the ground floor of computer development at IBM’s Test Laboratories at Endicott, New York.  Wiseman  later transferred to IBM’s Computer Plant in Boca Raton, Florida, as Product Safety Manger, retiring in 1987.

John Wiseman is married to the former Joyce Dean of Horseheads, NY.  They have three children; Dawn, Paula and John Jr.; and several grandchildren.

Wiseman is a member of American Legion Post 277 of Boca Raton, Florida, where he has served as Judge Advocate (legal officer), Service Officer and several years as Legion Post Commander. 

In 1999, Wiseman served as the Forty et Eight’s national commander, or “Chef de Chemin de Fer”.  Wiseman has also served as Conducteur National and served on several key national committees including; Finance, Time and Place, Voiture Activities, Youth Sports, Organizing and Membership.  In Florida, Wiseman served as the Forty et Eight state commander (Grand Chef de Gare) and as state adjutant (Grand Correspondant). 

Wiseman served as the commander (Chef de Gare) and as Avocat of Voiture Locale 1490.  He is currently a member of Florida’s Voiture Locale 954 where he serves as Avocat.

 

 

 

Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (David Wegener)

Dave was born in Summit, Wi. in June 1941. He is a graduate of Hartford Union High School in 1959. He retired in 1996 from the Milwaukee County Transit System after twenty five years of service.

Dave is a twenty six year member of the American Legion. He is a member of the Germantown American Legion Post 1 and has held many offices in the Post, County, District and the Department of Wisconsin including State Commander in 1998-1999. He is also a member of VFW Post 9202 in Germantown.

 He earned the right to belong to the American Legion by serving in the U.S. Navy in 1959 to 1965 aboard the carrier USS Lake Champlain, recovery ship for Americas first Astronaut, Alan Sheppard attaining an E-5 ranking.

He is a twenty three year member of the Forty et Eight, the Honor society of the American Legion and has held most offices including a 100% Grand Chef de Gare in 2005-2006. He has served as Alternate Cheminot and is now serving as Cheminot Nationale of Grand de Wisconsin. Nationally, he has served on the Carville Star committee.

 

 

 

Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Robert Molina)

Robert Molina was born in Tucson, Arizona

Tucson High Class of 1962

Entered United States Army January 1963

Joined American Legion in 1987

While at Morgan McDermott Post 7 Tucson, Arizona I served as:  Second vice Commander, First Vice Commander, Commander----2 Terms, Chaplain, Executive Committee, District Commander----2 Terms, Area A Vice Commander, Adjutant

Was wrecked into 40/8 in 1993, Served as:  Locale Lampiste, Garde de LaPort, Chef de Train, Conducteur, Chef de Gare,  Grand Cheminot, Commis Voyageur, Lampiste, Garde de La Porte, Conducteur, Grand Chef de Gare, Cheminot National, Aide de Camp National 2005, Sous Directeur Membership----2 years, still serving, Voyageur Activities Committeeman

Becky and I have 6 children:  4 girls----2 boys

11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

 

 

 

Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Garland Crook) 

Garland was born in Vaiden, MS on August 12, 1924.  He graduated from French Camp Academy High School in 1946 after spending 3 years in the Army during WWII.  After the war he spent 2 years at the University of Kentucky studying criminal justice.  He was called back to active service May 28th, 1948 with the Army ASA, 2nd ESB and spent 18 months in Korea.

Gar got out of the Army in 1952, married and settled on a ranch in North Dakota.  He was called back to the Army in December 1956 and served in Guided Missiles.  He retired from the Army June 1, 1970 and went back to farming and ranching in southwestern North Dakota.  He retired from farming and ranching in 1982.

Garland lives in Dickinson, ND with his wife, Cheryl.  “Gar” has 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  He has been and active member of all veterans’ organizations including a paid up for Life Membership with the VFW.  Garland loves to play golf when time permits, lives to fish in his spare time and enjoys watching all sports games.

 

 

 

Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Rick Blish)

I served 26 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired in 1990.

I have been a voyageur in Locale 1012, Grande Du Alabama since August 12, 1996 and have served on the locale level as Conducteur, Commis Voyageur, Box Car Directeur, POW/MIA Directeur, Correspondent, Chef de Train, Chef de Gare, and Cheminot.

On the Grande level I have served as Grande Chef de Gare, Chef de Train, Correspondent, Commis Voyageur, Nurses Training Directeur, Special Award Directeur, Directrur POW/MIA, and Cheminot.

On the Nationale level I have served as Sous Directeur POW/MIA Directeur, Committeeman POW/MIA, Cheminot Nationale, and Alternate Cheminot Nationale.  At the present time I have the honor of serving as Nationale Ritual Directeur.

I will strive to serve the 40&8 to the best of my abilities and I thank all voyageurs for their support.
