Michigan Veteran Named New 40&8 National Commander 
INDIANAPOLIS Oct 8, 2012 The national Forty & Eight veterans organization is pleased to announce Barry Bovee of Adrian, Michigan was elected Chef de Chemin de Fer, or national commander, of the Forty & Eight at its 93rd annual national convention, on September 15, 2012, in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
Bovee was born and raised in Adrian, Michigan. He was attending Adrian College when he entered the United States Army and served with the 4th and 25th Infantry Divisions in the Republic of Vietnam.
His election as Chef de Chemin de Fer (national commander) culminates 22 years of outstanding service to the Forty & Eight. Bovee has served in many national roles with the Forty & Eight; including Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer in 2010 and as Conducteur National and Youth Sports. Bovee was Forty & Eight’s Grande Chef du Michigan (state commander) in 2004 and Chef de Gare of Voiture Locale 997, Lenawee County, Michigan.
Active in Michigan veteran matters for over 45 years, Bovee is a life member of many organizations and has served as local commander for The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is owner member of the Addison Defense and Gun Club.
Bovee and his wife Linda have two sons and three grandsons.
The Forty & Eight, founded in 1920, is a charitable honor society of American wartime veterans. Its programs include Nurses Training, Child Welfare, Flags for First Graders, Carville Hansens Disease Center support, VA Voluntary Service programs, and programs supporting American troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. --- The group’s terminology and customs, unique among veteran organizations, derives from the experience of American troops in France during the First World War.
