40&8 Veterans Convention - Media Opportunities in Vancouver, WA, Sept 13-17, 2011

 

INDIANAPOLIS Sept 6, 2011  The national headquarters of the Forty & Eight cordially invites members of the media to the group’s 92nd annual Promenade Nationale (national convention) at the Hilton Convention Center, 301 W 6th Street, Vancouver, Washington, 98660, September 13-17, 2011.

There will be several opportunities for news interviews and videotaping colorful events, to include:

8:30 am      Wednesday, Sept 14, 2011    Color Guard Competition

11:00 am    Wednesday, Sept 14, 2011    Children’s Clown Party  

4:30 pm      Thursday, Sept 14, 2011        Opening Ceremony, Colors, Memorial

1:00 pm      Friday, Sept 14, 2011             Hero & Law Officer of the Year awards

Parade locomotives will be on display nearby.

The Forty & Eight’s 2011 Hero of the Year is Corey T. Cummings; Army veteran and Shreveport LA firefighter.

The 2011 Law Officer of the Year is Sherriff Jeffrey J. Dawsy, of Citrus Country, Florida, who investigated the 2005 Jessica Lunsford murder and helped enact “Jessica’s Law” for monitoring sexual child predators.

The Forty & Eight is a charitable honor society of American veterans since 1920.  Its official name is La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, derived from the French railway experience of U. S. troops in the First World War.
