40&8 Veterans Convention - Media Opportunities

Phoenix, AZ, Sept 10-14, 2013

 

INDIANAPOLIS 29 August, 2013  The national headquarters of the Forty & Eight cordially invites members of the media to the group’s 94th annual Promenade Nationale (national convention) at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort, 7677 North 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020, Sept 10-14, 2013.

There will be several opportunities for interviews and videotaping colorful events, to include:

8:30 a.m.        Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013      Color Guard Competition    

 

11:00 a.m.      Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013      Children’s Clown Party       

 

4:30 p.m.        Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013           Opening Ceremony, Flags, Memorial Service

 

1:00 p.m.        Friday, Sept. 13, 2013                Special Awards (Americanism, Hero, City & Law Officer of the Year.)

Parade locomotives will be on display nearby.

 

Among the organization’s 2013 Special Awardees being honored on Friday is Law Officer of the Year, Officer Charles Law of Stratham, New Hampshire Police Department. (Photo courtesy of www.unionleader.com).

Officer Law responded to a statewide police emergency shootout at Greenland, NH, on April 12, 2012.  He arrived to find police pinned down by gunfire and the Greenland Police Chief shot dead.  Law drove his vehicle into the line of fire to save two wounded officers.  Both men survived.  Law has a wife and daughter and he is a Master Sergeant in the New Hampshire Air National Guard with tours of duty in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Forty & Eight is a charitable honor society of American veterans since 1920.  Its official name is La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, derived from the French railway experience of U. S. troops in the First World War.
